Join Coastal Virginia Paddlers for a hauntingly fun event on October 26, 2025 for the 2nd Annual Witches & Warlocks on the Water! It is free to participate.
Bring your own SUP, Canoe or Kayak, paddles, and life preserver. Dress in your spookiest witch or warlock attire for a leisurely paddle along Owl's Creek. This isn't a race, it's a costume parade on the water!
Everyone must have a life preserver on their SUP, canoe, or kayak and sign our waiver to participate.

• Event Location: Owl's Creek Boat Ramp

PARKING:
• There is public parking at the Owl's Creek Boat Ramp area. Please park in the appropriate designated areas.
• Carpool if you can.
• Overflow parking is available across the street at the old Camp Pendleton parking lot.
SAFETY:
• All paddlers must wear proper safety equipment such as a PFD (all paddlers). If your dog is paddling with you, we recommend a PFD for your dog also.
• You are responsible for all your gear and possessions. COVA Paddlers cannot be held responsible for any theft, or damage to your gear or you possessions.
9:00 am: Sign in at the COVA Paddlers table so we know you have arrived.
• Register / sign waiver if you haven't already.
• Sign up for costume contest if you want to participate in that.
• Enjoy complimentary donuts and coffee sponsored by Peace, Love and Little Donuts, while supplies last!
• Our charity this year is Edmarc Children's Hospice. Don't forget to make a donation to Edmarc, if so inclined. It is not required but would be appreciated. See Edmarc information below for ways to donate.
9:30 am: Have your gear ready.
9:50 am: Our volunteer judge from the VCU School of Business will ask all participating in the costume contest to line up for a photo.
10:00 am: Launch.
• Have fun, socialize and take lots of photos! We'll enjoy a relaxing paddle towards the Virginia Aquarium. The Aquarium staff may take our photos as we paddle by. Then we will turn around and paddle to the Rudee Inlet Bridge and back. If you are uncomfortable paddling that far, no worries, you can leave whenever you like.
11:30 am: Everyone paddles back to kayak launch area.
12 Noon: Costume contest winner will be announced.
12:15 pm: Event concludes.
1 pm - 3 pm: AFTER PARTY: Keep that costume ON as the party continues at Ocean Eddie's Seafood Restaurant at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront Pier.

Our charity this year is Edmarc Children’s Hospice located in downtown Portsmouth, Virginia. Edmarc provides family-centered home health and hospice for children with life-threatening illnesses through nursing, social work, bereavement, and volunteer support. Their goal is to ease the gravity of pediatric illness and death and provide care for the patient and family as a whole. Families never receive a bill for any service Edmarc provides thanks to generous community support.

• If donating an item, please make sure to leave it in the original packing if possible.

An Edmarc employee will be collecting all donations at the event. They will have information and Edmarc pamphlets at the Sign in Table.
1 pm - 3pm: Ocean Eddie's Seafood Restaurant
Ocean Eddie's brings the freshest ocean-to-table cuisine right to the Virginia Beach seashore with an unforgettable blend of great food, fun, and spectacular views!

All sales between 1-3pm at Ocean Eddie's on Oct. 26, 2025 will be donated to Edmarc Children's Hospice.
So keep your costume ON and come out and support Ocean Eddie's and Edmarc!
PARKING: Ocean Eddie's and the Virginia Beach Fishing Pier are located in between 14th and 15th streets on the Boardwalk. Street parking is not free at this time. Be prepared to pay via credit card for street parking. Park as close to 14th Street as you can.
Cast a spell on us with your best witch or warlock attire! For extra credit to win the judges eyes, decorate your SUP, canoe, or kayak to complete your magical vessel.
12 Noon: Winner announced. Our volunteer judge from the VCU School of Business will select the most enchanting entry to win a fabulous swag bag.
